ABOUT THE PROGRAM HOSTS

Producer:   John Hoffner

John Hoffner has been producing the show since 2007 when it was called Shades of Green (with former Co-producer, Ken McKenzie).  Our new name and program will have more emphasis on green energy.  Although, we still feature environmental issues.

John has worked in the renewable energy field for over 25 years – First as the Manager for Renewable Programs at the City of Austin (1983 – 1996), as the Director of Technology for Conservation Services Group (1997 – 2005) and Solar PV Program Manager at CH2MHILL at present.  He has been a strong advocate for a balanced approach to solving our energy and environmental issues in Austin, the state of Texas, and nationally.  He served on the City of Austin’s Resource Management Commission from 2003 – 2006.

Co-host: Reed Sternberg

Reed grew up in a “hippy media family” with cameras and microphones around and still has his first audio recording from Age 3.  His “Environmental Activist” family provided Reed with early exposure to environmental issues such as nuclear and solar power and the importance of communication and transparency in helping us make important choices for our future.

Reed is President and a Founder of The Texas Green Network, the first “green” Chamber of Commerce in Texas and one of the very first of its kind.  He has taken a particular interest in helping grow and develop the “green” business community in Texas and in helping to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices in our business community as a whole.
