Shades of Green hosts led a discussion regarding the hot topic of Austin’s ride-share program that affects companies like Uber, Lyft and Ride Me. The City Council recently voted to enact safety standards that will ensure fingerprint-based background checks, which were heavily contested by the industry, citing it could reduce jobs and ride access for Austinites.
We welcomed Austin City Council members, Ann Kitchen (District 5), Chair of Austin’s Mobility Committee, and Delia Garza (District 2), both of whom have led the charge from the dais.
We’ll also had in the studio Jennifer Houlihan with Keep Ridesharing in Austin and Sara Levine with ATX Safer Streets to give the opposing view. On the phone was Jonathan Laramy the CXO for Get Me, another ride-share company recently started in Austin.
