The Topic is Recycled Energy – Rediscovering Cogeneration or CHP Technology 10-13-2011

Juan Ontiveros, Executive Director of Utilities and Energy Management at the University of Texas  joined us to talk about energy efficiency and the impact that energy waste has on the economy.  Using combined heat and power, CHP for on-site generation captures the wasted heat and emissions and utilizes them for an additional source of power.  UT has been producing energy using this technology and in 2010 they were able to increase efficiency up to 87% which enabled them to save $150 million in fuel costs.  You can see his challenge to other industries and watch the movie here that shows how this was accomplished.

Cliff Braddock, COO at RobustEnergy called in to the studio from the World Energy Engineering Congress, WEEC which was taking place in Chicago.  The World Energy Engineering Congress is presented annually by the Association of Energy Engineers.  We talked about innovations in CHP technology and the CHP 2011 Conference in Houston coming up October 17 – 19, 2011.
