Solar Energy Industry and the SPI Conference in Dallas, 10/27/2011

The topic for this week was Solar Energy and reports on Solar Power International (SPI) 2011, the solar conference that took place in Dallas October 17 – 20.  Guests on Shades of Green Radio were Jane Pulaski from the International Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Austin office and Michael Kuhn (Max Solar), CEO and founder, ImagineSolar, Thomas P. Kimbis, Vice President for Strategy and External Affairs, and General Counsel, at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) based in Washington D.C and our own veteran host, John Hoffner, Renewable Energy Manager, CH2M HILL who was a presenter at SPI.

Jane told us that IREC focuses on policy and training to build a strong foundation for the expansion of the solar industry and enabling its continued growth.  IREC will celebrate its 30-year anniversary next year … look to hear more from us about this anniversary!

Michael Kuhn, CEO and founder of ImagineSolar talked with us about solar training available to prepare a solar engineering workforce with international code compliant standards to provide trustworthy service. ImagineSolar’s Triple-O Solar Training provides an in depth workforce training program delivering multi-level instruction that is effective for a wide range of abilities.

David Kimbis, Vice-President for SEIA discussed the rapid growth of the solar industry and related jobs.  He also talked about the growth of Solar Power International that was held in Dallas this October 2011 with 100 countries represented and 21,000 people in attendance.
