Home Owners Association Blocks John Thoppil from installing a solar Hot Water System on his House in Austin

Dr. John Thoppil is building a new home in Austin, Texas and had planned to install a solar water heating system to be environmentally sensitive and to increase his chances of getting rating as a 5-star green building. The local architectural board of his home owners association denied his request even though the solar panels would not be visible to his neighbors.  Dr. Thoppil discusses his journey and how he hopes legislation introduced by the Texas Legislature will be passed and disallow home owner associations from denying the installation of solar systems that help reduce the carbon footprint of homes.  To listen to the pod cast click here.
